On Monday, January 16th, 5 young men decided to make a stand for purity. Daren Stevens, Joshua Miller, Chris Yang, Alex Casillas, and Brandon Council pledged to remain spiritually, emotionally, and physically pure  according to God’s Word. Family and friends watched as each student shared their testimony and their public pledge for purity. Pastor Daniel officiated this resolution ceremony and explained the benefits of making godly, biblical resolutions, and encouraged these young men to remain faithful and strong. These five young men serve as a great example of what it means to “flee youthful passions and pursue righteiousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22).

The Resolution of Purity

“If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.”

Numbers 30:2

I Do solemnly take full responsibility of my actions in accordance to the way

I conduct my life, seeking God’s will for my purity.

“Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.”

Proverbs 20:11

I Will not give into idolatry,

but be obedient to the Holy Spirit as He calls me to remain spiritually pure.

“You shall have no other gods before Me…”

Exodus 20:3

I Will not take refuge in any person, place, or thing,

but in God’s presence and in His word to remain emotionally pure.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped…”

Psalm 28:7

I Will not compromise in any form of sexual immorality,

but call upon God and brothers in Christ for accountability to remain physically pure.

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality,

that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor…”

1 Thessalonians 4:3; 4

I Will daily call upon the Lord, earnestly seeking Him in His word,

as I strive to be a man of integrity and purity.

“With my whole heart I seek You; let me not wander from Your commandments! I have stored up Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Psalm 119:10-11

I Will stay pure for the day that God presents me with my bride

and love her as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her.

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word…”

Ephesians 5:25; 26
