March is already here! And that means one thing: Spring is on the way! Although it felt like Winter never really came because of the warm weather, we are excited to begin a new season with many opportunities for students to serve and to be served.

As you do your Spring cleaning this year, don’t throw these dates away. Here’s what is coming up for the month of March:

–  3/5: Activate Prayer and Worship

  • 7pm in room 204 of Topher’s place

–  3/30: Apologetics Mission Trip to UC Berkeley

And, as always, we have our main service every Wednesday night at 7pm and street witnessing with SWAT every Friday night at 6pm in the Loft (except the last Friday of the month, due to our Activate Activities).

As you know, our vision for this year can be summed up with the word UPRISING. And truly, the Lord has been doing a great work—an uprising—here at Activate in 2012. In the last month of February, we saw the Lord move in many ways. Here is a quick recap:

Winter Camp

We had a blast up in the snow where over 350 students were challenged and encouraged in their faith. Our guest speakers were very motivating, such as Pastor Ben Courson, who challenged us to take steps of faith and attempt great things for the Lord, and Pastor Garid Beeler, who encouraged us to fight against temptation with the Word of God. And our own Pastor Daniel explained what it means for a young generation to be “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-16), especially in regards to our attitudes towards sex, authority, speech, time, and media.  We had an incredible time of worship as Leeland and the Activate Band led us in worship, where we were able to shout as loud as we could, “With everything, we will shout for your glory!” And of course, we had lots of laughs as the guy-mocking girls beat the shuffling Oompa Loompa men in Amateur Hour! We are already looking forward to Summer Camp 2012!

The Lord has already done a great work with our new emphasis on SWAT. So far, our apologetic training has been on “What is the Gospel?” We have learned a simple way to remember the gospel by using four key words: God, man, Christ, response. And God has blown us away with the amount of people who have both come out to SWAT and who have been impacted by SWAT. Here are the stats:

– February 3: 74 people in attendance for SWAT, with 14 commitments to Christ out on the streets.

– February 10: 97 people in attendance for SWAT, with 45 commitments to Christ out on the streets.

We praise God for the work that He is doing both in us and through us as we deepen and defend our faith!

Activate On Ice

On the last Friday of every month, we have decided to have a night that is set aside for some fun and fellowship. Our first Activate Activity was “Activate On Ice.” With almost 100 students, we feasted on some pizza and nachos, and then headed out to have some fun ice skating at Ice Town. It was a blast!
