With the school year coming to a close, things here at Activate are just starting to heat up. With all of the free time in summer, there are lots of opportunities to get plugged in at Activate and grow in your relationship with the Lord and in your friendships with other Christians. While most students waste away their summer, we want you to utilize your free time this summer for the Kingdom of God. We want you to rise up and make this a life-changing summer. Don’t miss out on all the opportunities to grow and serve! Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the month of May:

5/5: The Haven Hike

  • Ladies, join The Haven as they explore the outdoors and hike at the Oak Canyon Nature Center in Anaheim Hills. We will meet at Harvest at 8am and return at 1pm. We will enjoy God’s creation, have great fellowship, and have an encouraging devotion.
  • What to bring: release form, lunch money, water, and snacks (also make sure you eat breakfast before you come).
  • For more information, check out our blog.

5/7: Activate Prayer and Worship

  • 7pm in room 204 of Topher’s Place

5/25: Activate at the Theatre

  • For this month’s activity, we are going to have a movie night and BBQ at the church. But that’s not all! When the movie is over, we will head over to the gym where we will have our first official Activate vs. The Well dodge ball game. It will be epic!
  • The food will be provided by the ministry, so all you have to bring is you’re A-game for the dodge ball duel!

And as usual, we will have our normal services with Activate Wednesday on Wednesday nights at 7pm, and SWAT on Friday nights at 6pm.

The Uprising

As you know, last month Activate teamed up with the Crux Jr. High Ministry for The Uprising, a unique grassroots event designed to inspire and encourage today’s Christian youth to make a stand for Jesus Christ in their generation. The Lord completely exceeded our expectations that night as Sixteen Cities rocked the Court and Pastor Daniel Hooper shared the life-changing message of the gospel. We saw about 770 young people in attendance, and over 200 of them made commitments or recommitments to follow Jesus Christ.

As posted on the Harvest blog, “The problems and pressures that today’s youth are facing are unprecedented. Things that were virtually unheard of a generation ago—sexting, cyberbullying, guns in school, the open extolment of homosexuality, and a heightened antagonism towards Christianity, for example—have become commonplace among today’s youth culture. To live the life of a genuine Christ follower is almost revolutionary, hence the event’s strong title.”

We pray that this event would have a ripple effect—that a passion for proclaiming and living the gospel would spread among our young people. We pray that students would rise up and stop living for the things of this world and start living according to God’s Word. Thank you for your support and prayers for this event! God was glorified and His Church was edified; the gospel was preached and people responded! Check out pictures of The Uprising on Facebook!
